About Us
With Offices in Knoxville, TN and Charlottesville, VA the new name in Triple A Music is Americana Adult Alternative. Industry veteran, Cullen Kehoe, has teamed up with several Performing Songwriters, former Radio DJ's and Programmers, former Record Label owners and professionals, Public Relations specialists, and Social Media "Influencers", to form a new kind of Media and Artist Promotion Company.
Cullen started out as a songwriter and performer while still in school. After attending University of New Hampshire and then the Institute of Audio Research in New York he opened a recording studio in CT, while continuing to write and provide Live Sound reinforcement for many Connecticut based Bands. A natural evolution led Cullen into Artist Management, and eventually buying Incas Records Corporation who specialized in College Radio and Bands, most notably "Miracle Legion". After the big Independent Label reshuffling in the early 90's, where many smaller labels lost their distribution outlets to the "Majors", Cullen refocused his efforts into writing and moved to Nashville. In Nashville Cullen quickly garnered attention of Publishers by winning several songwriting competitions. Although Cullen achieved the level of success he was searching for life had other plans. On a whim, and with encouragement from a friend, Cullen answered an announcement for a Triple A Radio Station that was looking for a Host for an Americana format program. He called the station and spoke to the Program Director, "Look, I know little about being a radio host, but I know everything about Americana". At the time, Americana was a relatively new concept in radio programming. Being impressed by the honesty, that programmer took a chance and hired Cullen on the spot. "Americana Cafe" was hugely successful and thus launched Cullen into Radio with 100.3 The River on the former WOKI-FM in Knoxville.
At WFIV-FM in Knoxville, Cullen brought the Americana format over to another Triple A station and started a nightly program called "Americana Nights", exposing the market to new music. After gaining attention of the Americana Music Association, WFIV became a much coveted Americana Reporting Station due to Cullen's efforts. Pairing Americana with Triple A radio was another natural evolution. But Cullen wasn't finished there. Although Cullen was promoted to being the stations Music and Production Director (due to his recording and sound background) it took some convincing to the stations main Program Director that a third element was missing from the music. Alternative. That combination helped WFIV become a Leading Indicator station that is regarded around the country.
Recognizing Knoxville as an emerging hotbed of new music, in 2013 Cullen launched "Scruffy City Radio", an internet radio station that featured the music from Knoxville and East Tennessee artists. In 2016, a second internet radio stream was added. "Troubadour Radio" featured independent singer-songwriters from around the world. No matter the style of music, Troubadour Radio honored the art and craft of songwriting and performing, with an eclectic mix of music and genre's. "Sometimes, singer-songwriters have difficulty being heard. And I truly believe that everyone offers something unique. There is a market and audience for everyone, it just takes someone else giving that performer a chance. Music deserves to be heard. I want to help performing songwriters with that chance" Cullen has often said.
Thus, the idea for Americana Adult Alternative was born.
Cullen has worked as an engineer, producer, venue booker, manager, A&R rep, label owner, publisher, programmer, internet radio station operator, performer, and writer. Encompassing all aspects of the music industry Americana Adult Alternative is the new name in Triple A.
